In this release of the BLOX Total CMS Client (version 5.74), we've made improvements for Page Sharing, Automated Production, and Distributed Production, as well as fixed several bugs.
IMPROVEMENTS
- There was a long-standing issue with opening multiple pages with applied "Page Content Types" during when first opened using the "Open by Status" menu. Placing the Page Content Type snippets would only correctly position the snippet on the final opened page when opening multiple pages. The process has been changed and the snippets should be correctly placed on all opened pages. (INDESIGN-4336)
- Automated Production now requires Adobe InDesign version 2024 or newer. With Adobe’s recent release of Adobe InDesign 2025 and the BLOX Total CMS Plug-in for Adobe InDesign’s Automated Production’s requirement for Adobe InDesign 2024, it is a natural requirement for that same version to be the minimum for Automated Production. In addition, since we expect the plug-in will be used for all snippet functions, the legacy snippet menus will be removed when Automated Production is enabled starting with client version 5.76. (INDESIGN-4351)
- We had site using Distributed Production for BLOX Total CMS report that if they built only some of the sections assigned to an edition using "BLOX Total CMS > Documents > Layout > Create Edition using Edition file..." and then later attempted to use the same edition file to build the remaining sections, it would remove the ".adinfo" files from the original sections. The behavior has been changed and sites using Distributed Production can now safely build partial editions. Keep in mind, however, that you can always build all the pages of the edition at any time. (INDESIGN-4333)
- The 5.72 version of the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy added a couple of new files to the codebase. Unfortunately, older versions of the client weren’t expecting those and complained via a dialog about them. This release corrects auto update for Automated Production. Since new files are continually added to the code base as features and improvements are added, the visible warning will be removed. (INDESIGN-4334)
- We no longer allow non-print intended related content items from reaching the Adobe InDesign pages. If set to be included, you can view all the related content items in the Asset Manager, but only those with a Print environment or both Web and Print can be placed on pages. (INDESIGN-4319)
- Account information in the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy is always in lower case. Page and Zip locking information in Page Tracker, however, is in the case that the account was added. Thus, if the user account had uppercase characters like FLast@Domain.news then locks for open document might not be granted because the account didn’t match the client's lowercase version (flast@domain.news in this example). This has been corrected with a change to page logs for Distributed Production. (INDESIGN-4331)
- Combining pages for Distributed Production now closes additional open documents. To increase stability when using Distributed Production’s BLOX Total CMS > Documents > Page Management > Combine Pages..., if there are multiple documents open, all but the active document will be closed. (INDESIGN-4331)
BUG FIXES
- A bug impacted the "Jump Items" download from Page Tracker if those jump items had previously been removed. This has been fixed. Sites can now download via "BLOX Total CMS > Development > Page Tracker Jump Item Management > Download Jump Items..." (INDESIGN-4290)
- Support for grouped items with "Branded Item" pupport output. Client 5.73 added features to mark page items as Branded to allow them to be ignored during Page Sharing. Unfortunately, it was tested only with Page Tracker output methods or pages without groups. Groups caused infinite loops and Page Tracker output had been ignored. Both issues have been addressed.
