Data Insights will promote its web analytics GA4 solution on Thursday, June 6, 2024, in response to Google's decision to sunset all UA properties including paid 360 accounts by July 1, 2024. There is no action needed by Data Insights customers and there is no planned downtime for the migration.Â
While this data migration should not disrupt your daily activities, please note that the data displayed in Data Insights will be impacted. Below are the specific areas where changes can be expected.
Editorial Dashboard
Any metric in reference to traffic or users in the Editorial dashboard will be impacted.Â
Traffic-based data points may be impacted as virtual pageviews are not considered in GA4. Virtual pageviews are most commonly used for photo galleries, E-edition, carousel content, page scrolling, and file downloads. Therefore, depending on your use of virtual pageviews, your data may be impacted by the below metrics on the Editorial dashboard.Â
Pageviews
Article Pageviews
Collection Pageviews
Video Pageviews
Top Articles table - pageviews column
Top Locations section - pageviews
Top Sections table - pageviews column
Top Content Producers section - pageviews column
User-based data points may also be impacted during this transition. Google has made changes in GA4 that add the requirement of an 'engaged session' to count a user. In UA 'Total Users' was a simple count of users and had no criteria for actions made on a site. Depending on the definition of an 'engaged session' for your site in UA, there may be differences for your 'Unique Users' metrics in Data Insights.Â
Overall, it's worth noting your data in Data Insights may look different with this transition. Be assured our team has validated all data fields and metrics and ensured we are collecting all data available in GA4 to make sure these data points best reflect your website.Â
